General

Does Cars For Kids USA accept vehicles that don’t run?

Yes! Cars For Kids USA accepts vehicles even if they are no longer operational. Our donation procedure works to make productive use of car parts when placing them for donation. Since most vehicles being donated are old, or un-operational, you can contact us at 650-295-0177  and we will come collect your car, free of charge!

You will still receive Tax deduction emails and get to reap the benefit! The proceeds from the car parts sold go towards charities actively working with kids through Cars For Kids USA.

What kinds of vehicles can I donate?

Cars For Kids USA accepts donations in the form of cars, boats, RVs, trucks, trailers, motorcycles, jet skis, vans and more! If you have a vehicle, we can take it! Cars For Kids USA accepts every kind of vehicle.

If my boat isn’t operational, can I still donate it?

Yes, most boat gifts are welcomed, operating or not (with the exception of older boats whose value does not cover the expense of towing).

Are there only certain kinds of boats I can donate?

No, you can donate any and all kinds of boats. If you would like more details or are unsure, contact us at (650) 295-0177

My boat is currently on a trailer. Will the trailer also be collected with the boat upon pickup?

We do not take trailers along with boats. If you want to donate the boat with the trailer, then we can collect it. If you have no use of the trailer once your boat has been donated, you can also contact a local junkyard for its collection.

What do I do if I want to donate a boat belonging to a deceased person?

You can donate a boat that has belonged to a deceased individual, and Cars For Kids USA will accept the donation, provided that you can present us with a death certificate and legal documentation of your ownership of the deceased person’s belongings.

Pickup

What do I do if I am not available during the time of my donation pickup?

No need to worry if you are not available at the time of pickup. It is not necessary for you to be there. We handle the pickup process entirely, and communicate an email of confirmation once your boat has been picked up and reached our site.

Are there any expenses to be made on my end for the collection of my boat donation?

Absolutely not! Part of our job is to make sure you make an entirely hassle-free donation, and therefore, we happily handle the pickup all by ourselves.

What if my boat donation is not stationed at my house? Can Cars For Kids USA still pick it up?

Yes, indeed. We can collect your boat from any location, even across states, so long as it is within the United States.

Will a receipt of collection be provided at the time of pickup?

We ensure that upon the time of pickup, you will receive a certified receipt of collection, complete with your boat’s information, our organization name, and contact number printed on it. You can notify us with a confirmation email that your boat has been picked up, and we will handle the rest.

Title

Do I need a title to donate a boat?

It is preferred that you have a title when donating a boat. If not, we will need the seller to fill out paperwork for us.

How do I sign my title?

Wherever required, please refer to signing your title as the seller, with utmost accuracy. Your title should be signed the same way it appears on official documentation connoting you as the owner.

Tax Deduction

How much tax deduction will I get for my boat?

We follow the IRS allowance of Tax Deduction claims. They are as follows:

1. A boat sold for LESS than $500: the fair market value of your boat, up to $500.
2. A boat sold for MORE than $500: the amount we sell your boat for.

All tax deductible receipts generated will reflect this amount.

Will I receive a separate tax deduction for the trailer?

No, we will include the sale for the trailer with the tax deduction of your boat.
