Does Cars For Kids USA accept vehicles that don’t run?

Yes! Cars For Kids USA accepts vehicles even if they are no longer operational. Our donation procedure works to make productive use of car parts when placing them for donation. Since most vehicles being donated are old, or un-operational, you can contact us at 650-295-0177 and we will come collect your car, free of charge! You will still receive Tax deduction emails and get to reap the benefit! The proceeds from the car parts sold go towards charities actively working with kids through Cars For Kids USA.

What kinds of vehicles can I donate?

Cars For Kids USA accepts donations in the form of cars, boats, RVs, Trucks, Trailers, Motorcycles, Jet
Skis, Vans and more! If you have a vehicle, we can take it! Cars For Kids USA accepts every kind of vehicle.

How do I know if Cars For Kids USA provides services in my area?

Cars For Kids USA was established as a non-profit organization with the intent of operating nationwide in the Unites States of America. We most definitely provide services in your area if you are living within the US. If you’re still unsure, contact us at 650-295-0177 and we can share more details.

What do I do if I want to donate a vehicle belonging to a deceased person?

You can donate a vehicle that has belonged to a deceased individual, and Cars For Kids USA will accept
the donation, provided that you can present us with a death certificate and legal documentation of your
ownership of the deceased person’s belongings.

What is the donation process after my car has been picked up?

Once your car has been collected for donation, it is assessed and evaluated for the best approach to selling it. Most vehicles are broken down into parts and then sold. Based on the total expense garnered, you receive a Tax Deduction receipt via email, and confirmation that your donation has been forwarded to a charity working with kids, along with the designated total of your cars sale.

Does Cars For Kids USA accept abandoned cars?

No, we do not accept donations in the form of abandoned cars. All vehicles being donated to Cars For Kids USA must be under the ownership of the donator. To deal with an abandoned car, contact you local police or a junkyard for collection.

Pickup

What do I do if I am not available during the time of my donation pickup?

No need to worry if you are not available at the time of pickup. It is not necessary for you to be there. We handle the pickup process entirely, and send an email of confirmation once your vehicle has been picked up and has reached our site.

What if my vehicle donation is not stationed at my house? Can Cars For Kids USA still pick it up?

Yes, indeed. We can collect your vehicle from any location, even across states, so long as it is within the United States.

Will a receipt of collection be provided at the time of pickup?

We ensure that upon the time of pickup, you will receive a certified receipt of collection, complete with your car’s information, our organization name, and contact number printed on it. You can notify us with a confirmation email that your vehicle has been picked up, and we will handle the rest.

Title

How do I sign my title?

Wherever required, please refer to signing your title as the Seller, with utmost accuracy. Your title should be signed the same way it appears on official documentation connoting you as owner.

I don’t have a title. Can I still donate?

We can take the donation even if you do not have a title. However, we will require the seller to fill out paperwork for us in that case.

Tax Deduction

What is the procedure for determining the worth of my vehicle?

The year of manufacture, car model/make, mileage and local current market conditions are considered during the evaluation process of our team determining the worth of your donated vehicle.

How much will I receive for my car’s Tax Deduction?

We follow the IRS allowance of Tax Deduction claims. They are as follows:
1. A car sold for LESS than $500: the fair market value of your vehicle, up to $500.
2. A car sold for MORE than $500: the amount we sell your vehicle for.

All tax-deductible receipts generated will reflect this amount.
